Pot luck (dinner)
Meaning: a surprise meal, where nobody knows what dishes other guests will bring, an informal meal where guests bring a different dish that is then shared with the other guests
Example: You know what happened at our last pot luck dinner? Everybody brought macaroni and cheese, apples, and beer!
