Meaning: to get a message from someone or a group, recieve reply from someone, to receive a letter, telephone call, or other message from someone

Example: Hope to hear back from you soon. I want to hear from you every now and then. We hear from the court every year or so about jury duty. Have you heard from Sue recently? I heard from Jack last week, he emailed me.
